How ZOO technology can enhance academic learning in audiovisual translation

The streaming industry is growing, and this growth isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.

As the size and influence of the industry increase, so too does the number of streaming platforms on the market, the volume of content they have available, the size of their audience and, ultimately, the number of talented AVT professionals required to localize content for people around the world.

Our common goal, as an industry collective, is to give every audience around the world the authentic experience they deserve when consuming audiovisual content.

Our common goal, as an industry collective, is to give every audience around the world the authentic experience they deserve.

So, what is ZOO doing to support the AVT community in achieving this goal?

ZOO Academy is ZOO Digital’s educational initiative. The Academy’s mission is to equip, empower and elevate the AVT talent pool, giving them the tools, knowledge and experience they need to tackle localization projects in the real world.

Through our partnership program, we’re inviting academic institutions to become ZOO Academy partners and integrate our software with their day-to-day teaching.

Our partners receive:

Free access to ZOOdubs and ZOOsubs – our industry-leading, cloud-based platforms.

Our partners are given our award-winning technology free-of-charge, giving educators the opportunity to train their students on real-world localization tools and prepare them to tackle projects in the entertainment industry.

By offering the use of these tools to our academic partners, ZOO Academy hopes to support the education of AVT talent.

ZOOdubs and ZOOsubs are widely used to deliver dubbing and subtitling projects for the biggest names in entertainment. By offering the use of these tools to our academic partners, ZOO Academy hopes to support the education of AVT talent, equipping and familiarizing them with technology that is trusted and established in entertainment localization.

A custom domain for each university or course, tailored to their needs.

Each of our partners receives a custom domain for their university and can administer their own set-up to fit their teaching and curriculum.

The cloud-based software facilitates the flexibility and accessibility that educators need, enabling them to teach from anywhere in the world, to anywhere in the world, in a way that suits them.

The cloud-based software facilitates the flexibility and accessibility that educators need.

Students can practice and collaborate from home, or in-person across seminars, workshops and tutorials. In-built functionalities, such as glossaries, group-recording, video-conferencing and QC, eliminate the need for time-consuming, administrative tasks and allow students to maintain focus on their linguistic craft and the art of translation.

These functionalities also mean that educators can teach, edit and give feedback in real-time, providing an interactive and accessible learning environment for AVT students.

Ongoing support and training from our team.

Upon becoming a ZOO Academy partner, users receive in-depth training from our education team, empowering them to share their own knowledge of the technology with their students.

As our technology evolves with industry demand, partners are given ongoing support to ensure that they are up-to-date with any changes in functionality or technical process. If an educator requires help or guidance at any time in their partnership, our dedicated team will be on-hand to assist, recommend solutions and identify the best way forward for each individual partner.

Access to guest lecturers and industry insights from within ZOO Digital.

ZOO Academy partners will be able to connect with guest lecturers from within ZOO Digital, offering industry insights and expertise in a range of fields; from voice acting to script adaption, audio description to subtitling practices.

Our partners will be able to request guest lecturers from within our team to complement their curriculum.

As part of our work in localization, our team are already sharing their skills and expertise across the globe to upskill and refine the practices of AVT talent. Our partners will be able to request guest lecturers from within our team to complement their curriculum, add further value to their teaching and give their students insight into ever-changing industry practices from people who have been there and done it in an industry setting.

What our partners say:

We are already working with a range of partners who are actively using the software in their teaching and research.
