ZOO Digital hires Anna Chew as Territory Manager for Southeast Asia and China
ZOO Digital today announced the appointment of Anna Chew as territory manager for SEA and China. Anna is an experienced localization leader with a dependable reputation through her work at Walt Disney SEA, Blizzard Entertainment, Viacom International and ONE Championship.
In her previous role with Disney Character Voices International (DCVI), Anna led localization projects and artist management for the SEA region and was responsible for sharing some of the most successful Disney, Star Wars and Marvel films of recent years, including Frozen, Moana, Star Wars: The Force Awaken, Finding Dory, Avengers: Age of Ultron, The Good Dinosaurs, Inside Out, Cinderella, The Jungle Book and Big Hero 6 with audiences in her region.
Through her experience with DCVI, Anna has supervised the creation of local versions of feature animation and live-action films for both the theatrical market and television channels. While working within Nickelodeon, as part of Viacom International, she pioneered the casting of gender- and age-authentic voice actors on hits such as Dora the Explorer, Spongebob Squarepants, iCarly and Blue’s Clues. More recently, with Blizzard Entertainment and ONE Championship, Asia’s largest sports media property, Anna has bolstered her localization reputation within the gaming and live sports industries.
As ZOO Digital’s territory manager for SEA and China, Anna will be responsible for building a high-quality dubbing talent pool reflective of the modern content being offered by the entertainment industry today. This will involve recruiting, training, and managing a network of experienced directors, voice actors and adaptors, as well as discovering hidden gems in the localization industry and unearthing the actors and directors of the future.
Highly experienced in managing celebrities and star talents as well as discovering fresh voice actors and studios, Anna aims to grow the ZOO Digital network in Asia in order to offer entertainment industry clients more variety and capacity for localized content moving into and out of the region.
On her new role at ZOO, Anna said:
“Within dubbing, Asia has a huge deal of potential. A lot of the content giants are aggressively producing local content within the region because of the success we’re seeing around the world. This content has a global appeal, and we want to give content owners the most authentic representation possible while building the capacity for the future of this localization market.
“As a polyglot working in localization, it’s fair to say I’m incredibly passionate about languages and I’m proud to help share such exciting stories and cultures with the world. These films and shows can help bring us together, so we owe it to the storytellers and the audiences to do it right.”
“Anna is a fantastic addition to the ZOO team,” said Syed Ahmed, head of international business development at ZOO Digital.
“She brings a reputation as a forward-thinker who lives and breathes the quality standards demanded of the biggest theatrical franchises. Anna has a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the region and how we can help our clients to achieve their goals in SEA and China.”
The appointment of Anna Chew underscores the continuation of rapid growth plans for ZOO’s dubbing services.
