Tell us a bit about yourself!
I'm Juan Sola and I've been a dubbing director and actor for the past 17 years. Some of my credits in film include Love Happens, The Invention of Lying, Jack and Jill, Book of Henry, The Secret Life of Pets.
In the TV world, I've dubbed episodes of Sex and the City, Six Feet Under, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Fresh Prince of Bel Air and many more.
How has cloud dubbing changed what you do?
It's quite amazing that I could be in a room with an actor, recording that actor, and somebody in the office or anywhere where that person might be has access to reviewing what I'm doing in real-time and can actually give me feedback.
How has cloud dubbing helped with casting?
It truly is beautiful the fact that it is in the cloud with how easy it is to actually cast every project – just logging in, assigning after filling in the casting sheet, just going through the casting sheet assigning the characters to every actor. This is an extremely easy process.
How does cloud dubbing improve accuracy and recording?
The system lets you know how advanced you are in process of recording; whether you are at 57%, 80%, 98%... so when I'm done, if I see that '99% is done', then I know there's something missing.
How does cloud dubbing help you collaborate?
It's also a way to mix talent from different places. You know, we've been doing a bunch of reality shows, animal shows, cooking shows etc. where I've mixed talent from here and talent from Spain – and it has worked out beautifully.
How have the voice actors you're working with taken to it?
It really is a great system – every single actor that I've worked with that has used it, they love it. They concentrate on the performance as opposed to having to look at time codes constantly.
Tell us about a project you've worked on using cloud dubbing
I did something that I'd never done before. I had the actor next to me, we had the computer in front of us and I was acting as the engineer and director while the actor was doing his thing.
I didn't know what to expect on how they were going to react, but it was great. It was fast, it brought us closer, and it was a fantastic experience. I actually felt it saved a bunch of time.
Working with ZOO and using their platform in the cloud has been amazing – I literally have zero complaints!
